The Best Things To Do in NYC this Week (May 23, 2018)

Where has Josh been this week?

Restaurant of the week

I'm always looking for somewhere central for lunch, dinner or a drink, and I think I've found the perfect place!

Union Fare (Union Square) is a new industrial restaurant and Modern gastrohall. Spanning a full city block, Union Fare is centrally located in a historic landmark in the heart of Union Square, NYC.

They turn into a great spot for lunch where you buy from a range of internal stores, but after dark they're a lovely spot to have a drink or sit down for a nice dinner. The venue is beautiful and it's perfect for a meeting with friends or work-mates!

Bar of the week

With it warming up (ever so slowly) it's important to find a nice spot to sit outside. Because we're staying central this week, I've got another one near Union Square!

Mercy Bar (Gramercy) is a great little bar with a lovely range of happy hour deals for wines and beers. It's centrally located, has a great atmosphere, and the outdoor area out the back is perfect!

Insider tips of the week

Every week, at Dinner with New Friends, I ask the group: “Do you have one super tip that you'd love to pass on to everyone in New York City?” Here goes the second round!:

“The best Korean food in the city is Hanbat in midtown. For a good, cheap Chinese meal, checkout NY Noodle Town in Chinatown. For dim sum, you have to leave Manhattan and head to Flushing.” – Allen Y.

Y7 yoga is where it’s at! It’s hip hop yoga, so they play Beyoncé, Kanye and Fetty Wap versus the usual instrumental music. Namaste, with a twist!” – Ashley F.

“I love to catch the East River ferry from East 34th street to Wall Street/Pier 11 when I have friends visiting – amazing views for a bargain $2.75! A pit stop at LIC Landing along the way is also great for some city snaps.” – Sarah W.

Everyman Espresso is a fab coffee shop!” – Carah C.

“The best theatre for quirky off broadway plays is St. Anne’s Warehouse in Bklyn – Ksenija J.

Lucky Dog – dog friendly bar in Williamsburg in case you really want to own a dog but can't, go there and pat other people's dogs!” – Laura N.
