New York – Century Cricket Launch — An Evening with Ricky Ponting

Century Cricket Centres are opening their New York flagship near Bryant Park. Before the doors officially open, they’re inviting the local cricket community inside for a first look. The building is still under construction, which is rather the point. This is a chance to stand in the space before it becomes New York’s new home of cricket. You’ll also hear from one of the greatest players Australia has produced.

An Australian company, an Australian legend

Here’s the part that makes this one properly ours. Century Cricket Centres started in Australia in early 2023, built around a simple frustration: it’s far too hard to train consistently. Their answer was gym-style cricket: 24/7 access, app-booked lanes, and a key fob on the door. Rain, hail or shine, whenever suits you.

Now they’re bringing that to New York. Plenty of us grew up with cricket and have spent years over here explaining what a googly is. An indoor center in Midtown is a genuinely good development.

And they’ve brought Ricky Ponting along to launch it.

What happens on the night

It’s a relaxed clubhouse-style evening rather than a formal opening. Drop in when it suits, have a drink, and talk cricket with people who actually want to talk about cricket.

The centerpiece is a live Q&A with Ricky, and afterward he’s staying on for photos and a chat.

If you’ve never been in a room with Punter before, take the opportunity. Three World Cups, more than 27,000 international runs, and a captaincy record that still stands up. The chance to ask him something directly, in a half-built cricket center in Midtown, doesn’t come around twice.
