America Josh LLC (“America Josh,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use and share it, and the choices and rights you have.
This Policy applies to your use of our websites, communities, newsletters, and events. Capitalized terms not defined here have the meaning given in our Terms of Use.
By using our Service, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this Policy.
What This Policy Covers
This Policy applies to the websites and services we operate, including:
- americajosh.com
- australiansintheusa.com
- aussiewatchparty.com
- e3.americajosh.com
- bigaussiecheer.com
- bigaussiebbq.com
- aussiesinternational.com
It also applies to our newsletters, surveys, ticketed and free events, and the online communities, groups, and directories we run, including community spaces we host on third-party platforms such as Facebook and LinkedIn. We refer to all of these together as the “Service.”
Where a community space sits on a third-party platform, that platform handles your information under its own privacy policy as well.
A Note for Our Australian Community
Most of our community is Australian — living in the United States, or preparing to move from Australia. Many of you give us your information while still in Australia, and your expectations about privacy are shaped by Australian standards.
We take that seriously. We aim to handle personal information consistently with the spirit of the Australian Privacy Principles as well as US expectations, and we extend the core privacy rights described below — access, correction, deletion, and the ability to opt out of marketing and tracking — to everyone in our community, wherever you live, rather than only to people in places where the law requires it.
Information We Collect
Information You Give Us
- Contact details such as your name and email address, for example when you subscribe to our newsletter, join a community, or contact us.
- Phone number, where you provide it during certain event registrations or forms.
- Event registration details when you sign up for or buy tickets to an event.
- Payment information when you make a purchase. Payments are processed by our payment providers (see “Payments” below); we do not store your full payment card details.
- Survey and form responses, including answers to questionnaires and audience surveys.
- Community content, such as comments, group posts, and profile information you choose to share.
- Support messages, including the content of emails and help requests you send us.
Information We Collect Automatically
When you use the Service, we and our providers collect certain information automatically, including:
- Log and device data such as your IP address, browser type and version, operating system, the pages you visit, referring pages, and the date, time, and duration of your visits.
- Usage and interaction data about how you navigate and interact with our pages, including through analytics and session tools.
- Cookies and similar technologies, as described in “Cookies and Tracking Technologies” below.
How We Use Your Information
We use personal information to:
- operate, maintain, and improve the Service;
- send you our newsletter, event updates, and other communications you have signed up for;
- register you for events, process payments, and manage your participation;
- respond to your questions, support requests, and feedback;
- understand how the Service is used so we can make it better, using analytics and session tools;
- promote our content and events, including through advertising on third-party platforms;
- keep the Service secure and prevent fraud and abuse; and
- comply with our legal obligations.
Cookies and Tracking Technologies
Cookies are small files placed on your device that store information, sometimes including a unique identifier. We and our providers use cookies and similar technologies for several purposes:
- Essential cookies that are needed for the Service to function.
- Analytics cookies that help us understand how visitors use the Service. We use Google Analytics for this.
- Experience and session tools that record how users interact with our pages, such as clicks, scrolling, and navigation, so we can improve usability. We use Hotjar for this. Hotjar collects behavior on the page rather than the contents of what you type, which is masked.
- Advertising cookies and tracking pixels that let us and our advertising partners measure and deliver relevant advertising, including on other websites and platforms. We use the Meta (Facebook) Pixel and the LinkedIn Insight Tag for this.
You can control cookies through your browser settings, including refusing or deleting them, though some parts of the Service may not work properly without them. Where we display a cookie banner, you can also manage your preferences there.
How We Share Information
We do not sell your personal information for money. We share information in the following ways:
- With service providers who perform services on our behalf, such as website hosting and content delivery, email and newsletter delivery, event ticketing and registration, payment processing, analytics, customer support, and similar functions. These providers may access personal information only to perform tasks for us and are obligated to protect it. Key providers include MailerLite (email), Stripe and Humanitix (payments and ticketing), Google (analytics), Hotjar (session analytics), Cloudflare (security and content delivery), and our helpdesk provider.
- With advertising and analytics partners, including Meta, LinkedIn, and Google, in connection with measuring and delivering advertising. This may involve sharing online identifiers and activity data. Under some privacy laws, this kind of sharing for cross-context behavioral advertising is treated as a “sale” or “share,” even though no money changes hands. You can opt out as described in “Your Privacy Rights and Choices.”
- For legal reasons, where we believe disclosure is required by law, subpoena, or legal process, or is necessary to protect the rights, safety, or property of America Josh, our community, or others.
- In a business transfer, if we are involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, in which case we will take reasonable steps to ensure your information remains protected.
- With your consent, or otherwise at your direction.
We may also share aggregated or de-identified information that cannot reasonably be used to identify you.
Your Privacy Rights and Choices
We extend the following rights and choices to everyone in our community, regardless of where you live:
- Access the personal information we hold about you.
- Correct information that is inaccurate or out of date.
- Delete your personal information, subject to limited exceptions where we are required or permitted to keep it.
- Opt out of marketing at any time by clicking unsubscribe in any newsletter, or by contacting us.
- Opt out of behavioral advertising and tracking by managing cookies in your browser, using our cookie controls where available, and using the opt-out tools provided by Meta, LinkedIn, and Google in your account or ad settings on those platforms.
Do not sell or share. We do not sell your information for money. To opt out of the advertising-related “sharing” described above, you can manage your cookie preferences, use a browser that sends a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal, which we treat as an opt-out request where applicable, or contact us at [email protected].
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at [email protected]. We will respond within a reasonable time and may need to verify your identity first. You will not be treated differently for exercising your privacy rights.
International Data Transfers
We are based in the United States, and the providers we use are generally located in the United States. If you access the Service from Australia or elsewhere outside the United States, your personal information will be transferred to, stored in, and processed in the United States, where data protection laws may differ from those in your country. By using the Service, you understand that your information may be processed in the United States.
Data Retention
We keep personal information only for as long as we need it for the purposes described in this Policy, including to provide the Service, comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. When we no longer need it, we delete or de-identify it. If you ask us to delete your information, we will do so subject to the limited exceptions noted above.
Security
The security of your personal information matters to us, and we use commercially reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect it. However, no method of transmission over the internet or method of electronic storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Children’s Privacy
The Service is intended for adults and does not address anyone under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 18. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has given us personal information, please contact us, and if we learn that we have collected information from a child under 18, we will delete it.
Links to Other Sites
The Service may contain links to sites we do not operate. If you follow a link to a third-party site, you will be subject to that site’s privacy policy. We have no control over, and assume no responsibility for, the content, privacy policies, or practices of any third-party site or service, and we encourage you to review the privacy policy of every site you visit.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated Policy on this page and revise the date above. If a change is material, we will try to provide additional notice. We encourage you to review this Policy periodically. Changes take effect when posted.
