I’ve been getting loads of questions lately from clients wanting to know a little bit of inside knowledge, so I thought I’d post some of these common mistakes and tricks to getting the best deal for your flights. Hit me up if you have any more.
Q: What day of the week is the best day to purchase flights?
A: This is by and large really not a thing. However – important to note, some airlines charge a premium for the travel days of the week, not the day the reservation is made. Finnair, for example, charge up to 20% for flights leaving on a Friday as opposed to the same flight on the Thursday!
Q: What is the best month to book my flight to Europe for the summer?
A: This is a thing! The best time to book your flights to Europe for the summer is September/October of the previous year – this is when Europe early birds get released by all the majors. You will get the best routes, the best seats (your pick will still be available) and an added bonus is you can definitively put this date on your calendar and start to get excited!!!
Q: What is the most expensive time to travel from the US?
A: The usual peak times – please please please – remember that airlines DO NOT release sale fares for their busy peak seasons, they don’t have to discount these dates as they are guaranteed to get the bums on seats, so don’t put off buying your Christmas/Easter/School Holiday flights, guys – they’re not going to get cheaper, they’re just going to go up.
These are the most common questions I get – let me know if you have any more!
