An intro to Houston, Texas from Amy Conacher, Executive Director · Australian American Chamber of Commerce

Welcome to Houston! As the Executive Director of the Australian American Chamber of Commerce, I’m delighted to welcome you to one of the most dynamic, diverse, and opportunity-rich cities in the United States. Houston is a place where innovation meets southern hospitality — a global energy hub with a thriving international community, world-class arts and culture, and a food scene that rivals any in the country.

Whether you’re here for business, adventure, or a new chapter in life, you’ll quickly see why so many Australians choose to call Houston home.

At the AACC, we’re here to help you hit the ground running. Our community of Aussies and Americans is vibrant, supportive, and always up for a good catch-up — whether that’s at a business networking event, a BBQ, or cheering on the Matildas together. We invite you to connect with us, attend our events, and make the most of the many opportunities this incredible city has to offer. Welcome again — we’re so glad you’re here.

An intro to Austin, Texas from Russ Macumber, Managing Director · Impressive Digital (US) and Board Member · Australia-American Chamber of Commerce

G’day and welcome to Austin! I moved here in 2021 with my wife Angelique and our four kids – Lilah, twins Coby and Siella, and Harvey. We came for business, but quickly fell in love with the community and everything that makes this city special.

Austin is one of America’s fastest-growing tech and business hubs, full of innovation and opportunity. Culturally, it’s got a vibe all its own – from SXSW and Austin City Limits to world-class food (ahem… Bar-B-Q!), live music, and plenty of flat whites to keep you going.

Since arriving, I’ve been closely involved with the Aussie community here. Whether through business connections or casual catch-ups, there’s a strong and welcoming group ready to help new arrivals hit the ground running.

If you’re here for work, adventure, or a fresh start, Austin has plenty to offer. Welcome – I’m glad you’re here.
