Which venues are open in NYC during COVID restrictions?

We're all desperate to get out and about, return to bars, eat at our favorite restaurants, and continue life as normal, but with Coronavirus numbers spiking again, it's time to be careful, be mindful, and know where to go.

New York officials on Wednesday confirmed that they will halt indoor dining in New York City, despite it being scheduled to resume:

With the coronavirus spreading rapidly in other large states like Florida and Texas, Mayor Bill de Blasio announced on Wednesday that New York City would not resume indoor dining at restaurants next week as scheduled.

The first thing I want to say therefore is that the only way we're going to get through this is together.

Wear a mask. Distance yourself from others. Be careful. And where possible, don't meet up in groups. I know you're going stir-crazy but this won't go away if we dismiss all the rules.

That all being said, I know lots of you want to know where you can go even just on your own to get outside the four walls of your apartment.

So if you've taken all of the above precautions…

A handy tool for open venues

Community member, Petros, sent this to me and I thought it was a fantastic tool!

NYC Open Restaurants is a fantastic mapped view of open restaurants across NYC, provided by the NY Department of Transport (DOT). It doesn't work well at all on mobiles, so jump on your computer (even then, be patient, it's pretty slow).

You'll find filters for the borough, zip, name, whether they serve alcohol, where the seating is (roadway, sidewalk, or both) and lots of contact information.

Do you have any tips or advice? I'd love to hear them! Comment below.
