So it's been almost one whole year since I launched America Josh. Whoa.
What started as a hobby to distract myself as I went through the trials of moving to a new country has now turned into a fully fledged business with lots of different moving pieces and exciting new adventures.
First things first, have a look at the images of all the versions of the America Josh logo before I got to the final (I love it):
- Too much hair, and too angry;
- Still too much hair, not enough forehead, too many muscles;
- Almost there, but the name needs to be spiced up;
- Perfect.
So from there, what's on the menu for 2018?
As you may have already seen, I'm keen to start reaching out to those who connect with America Josh, through Dinner with New Friends. This is the first new initiative of 2018, and is a chance to connect more people who live in New York with each other to hopefully connect like-minded awesome individuals. My grand plan is to make this city that I now call “home” as exciting and welcoming as I found it in January 2017 for the new and the old alike. Everyone is welcome!
The second part of the plan is to use that network to help each other find rentals (and sub-rentals), grow businesses, and help charities and initiatives that those people set up. I honestly think that with some hard work and awesome people (like those I have already met), we can really make a difference to this city, this country, and this world.
The third part of the plan is to start reaching out to businesses directly and helping them with moving people to New York. I've built quite an Encyclopaedia of Tips & Tricks in the past 16 months, and I want to share them! This is (to be completely honest with you) the way that I plan to maybe make some money from America Josh, because I will never charge you lovely readers to read all of this goodness!
