Every week I try to visit some new venues and tell you about the best ones. So where has Josh been this week?
Restaurant of the week
Delicious food, late at night, known for its dumplings and delicious creations.
The Bao (St Marks Place) is a fantastic and very popular venue. With long communal tables and a fantastic ambiance, you'll absolutely love this place for a dinner with friends.
You might not be able to make a recommendation, so instead, expect a wait.
Recommended Dish: Crispy Beef… OMG… Wow.
Bar of the week
If you like a popular place in the East Village with all the locals, you'll love this.
The Garrett (East Village) is a fantastic place filled with LOTS of people at the prime times after hours. You're probably going to have to squash in, but it's worth it if you want a top quality drink and a fun mix of music.
P.S. They do brunch… I just saw on their website! Let me know what it's like!
Insider tips of the week
Every week, at Dinner with New Friends, I ask the group: “Do you have one super tip that you'd love to pass on to everyone in New York City?” Here goes the second round!:
“The manhattan bridge separates bicyclists from pedestrians so it is much easier to bike across during busy times” – Rob K.
“Industry City Distillery in Sunset Park has incredible views of Manhattan and make amazing vodka. And Rooftop Reds in Fort Greene have a winery on a rooftop, with hammocks and yard games!” – Alex P.
“Even though Eleven Madison Park is booked months in advance, you can stroll in without a reservation and eat at the bar with a minimal wait time on weeknights. Ordering a la carte is cheaper than reserving the full dinner menu too!” – Ainsley D.
“Take a bike trip or drive down to Dead Horse Bay and explore a weird, forgotten corner of NYC. Wear closed-toe shoes, tho.” – Chris F.
“The Coffee Project in the east village for the best coffee in the city. ” – Nora H.
