First Wednesdays (March 2020): Pizza, Beer, Credit & Wine

Introducing First Wednesdays: A chance to get together, to build communities, to ask questions, to learn lessons, and to make new friends both personally and professionally. Oh, and did I mention there'll be pizza, beer, and wine included!?

On the First Wednesday of every month, I'm going to host an event, somewhere in the city, for those who are new and old to the New York (and American) community.

Whether you've been here for twenty-four hours or twenty-four years, it doesn't matter, because we all bring something different and something special.

Events will run for three hours and you are welcome to join for all or some of the event if you aren't able to get there on time!

How do First Wednesdays work?

I know that lots of you want opportunities to make new friends, meet new people, and build groups just like you might have elsewhere. So first and foremost, that's what this is. Making new friends in a big city that makes it difficult sometimes.

I also know that there are lots of you in businesses and jobs who want to make some professional connections. It's always handy in a meeting or interview to say “I know that company” or “I know that woman!” so I want to help.

First Wednesdays start with 1 hour of business networking (6-7pm) where you can throw your business cards around, drink a beer or wine, introduce yourself professionally, and build your professional network. Then at 7, it's strictly non-business, and out comes the pizza, (with beer, and wine).

In the summer months, we’ll find venues outdoors, and in the winter months, I’ll be sure to pick venues to keep you all warm.

It's meant to be relaxed, it's meant to be fun, it's meant to be just like the community and friends you may have in another place.

First Wednesdays Power Partners

We will also have a partner (or two) at every event who will help power the event and can build knowledge in the America Josh community. March 2020's First Wednesday is powered by Nova Credit!

Nova Credit helps newcomers to the U.S. use their international credit history to apply for credit cards and loans in the United States–and earn rewards and build a credit score in the process.

I thought they were the perfect partner to kick off these events because they encompass international relations and building trust.

First Wednesday (March 2020)

We're kicking off First Wednesdays on March 4 from 6 pm in Astor Place. Tickets are $10 and include the whole event, all the people, beer, wine, and pizza.

Nova Credit translates international credit data into a U.S.-equivalent score and a report in a format familiar to American underwriters, who can use it to evaluate their applications for credit products.
