NYC Restaurant Week started on July 22, 2019 and runs until August 16, 2019. In short, it means 320+ restaurants across NYC give specials on lunch, brunch, and dinner!

This was a concept that was completely new to me when I arrived. People whispered of “wait for Restaurant Week” and told me of great deals they’d received, but I really had no idea what it was! So..

What is NYC Restaurant Week?

From the NYC Restaurant Week site:

NYC Restaurant Week is a celebration of NYC’s most fabulous pastime: dining out. With hundreds of restaurants throughout the City rolling out special prix-fixe menus for a limited time, this is your chance to revel without a cause.

So that means that twice a year you get special deals at some of New York’s best restaurants, and the opportunity to try out their cuisine without the high costs.

There are special two-course & three-course, prix-fixe meals at participating restaurants.

Saturdays aren’t included, Sundays are optional, and it never includes any drinks, tips, or taxes.

It’s definitely worth taking advantage of!

Top Tips to take advantage of NYC’s Restaurant Week 2019

  1. Book for lunch when you can (there’s more availability);
  2. Book for Sunday nights where you can (not everyone offers Sunday nights but if they do, you’re in for a treat);
  3. The “week” is actually more like 4, so if you can’t get a booking in the first week, be sure to keep an eye on bookings later in the schedule;
