The Biggest Range of Spices & Ingredients in NYC 2026

This weekend, my wife's family was in town and we went for a visit to one of the most amazing stores I've seen in New York. Spices, ingredients, and a bazillion types of flour all in one store. If you're an eager cook, or baker, or just like some spice in your life – have I got the store for you!

Kalustyan's. Goodness gracious me.

I don't even cook very much (really nothing outside of Blue Apron and my love for baking), but this store was amazing! I've never seen so many types of everything in one place.

Did you know that there are Vietnamese versions of cinnamon? I sure didn't, and if I'm honest I still don't really know what it means, but it was there if you need it! They also had peanut butter powder, and we all know that sounds delicious.

If you're looking for beans, lentils, breads, snacks, sweets, additives, incense, resins, oils, jams, chutneys, mushrooms, truffles, dried vegetables, nuts, fruits, oils, vinegars, rices, grains, salts, sugars, sauces, pastes, soup bases, spices, herbs, seasonings, peppers, honeys, teas, or bitters… this it the place for you!

You need to visit to get the full experience

Going to their website is one thing, but wandering the halls and seeing an entire room of pepper… that's another thing. Make a morning of it, then stay in the area for a delicious curry!

Find the flavors from home

The reason I'm mentioning it is that I know a lot of people who move to New York have a problem finding some of the ingredients they were used to at home because the supermarkets are smaller and have a much more limited range. Great stores like this one fill that need for something you're familiar with from home and helps cultures come together.
