What is Giving Tuesday 2024?

You've heard of Black Friday and you're now probably familiar with Cyber Monday (I know that because it's breaking records left right and center each year), but do you know about Giving Tuesday? Because it's the most important day of all when it comes to the holiday season.

To get a bit of context, let's read the official definition from the GivingTuesday.org site:

GivingTuesday is a global generosity movement unleashing the power of radical generosity. GivingTuesday was created in 2012 as a simple idea: a day that encourages people to do good. Since then, it has grown into a year-round global movement that inspires hundreds of millions of people to give, collaborate, and celebrate generosity.

Basically, to counter the fact that we've spent billions of dollars (with a “B”) on things you probably didn't need throughout the holiday sales, this is a day where you can give something back to the community.

Charities use this as a day for setting targets and raising lots of money for those who need it most.

It's your chance to feel good and make a real difference.

Who you should give to for Giving Tuesday 2021?

Any registered charity that does something you believe in!

Find a good cause on a website like Charity Navigator and then donate as much as you can give. Giving to someone who needs it more than you is the best feeling ever, I promise.

Who I'm giving to for this year's #GivingTuesday

I'm the President of a Charity here in New York, Variety – the Children's Charity of New York and I'm trying to raise $1,000 this year for Giving Tuesday.

At Variety we believe that all children are special, so we help sick, disadvantaged, and privileged kids from all over New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut with special equipment to help them live, move, and grow.

If you don't have anyone you'd like to give to, you can help me raise $1,000 to afford a new bike for a child in need, like Mikayla!

Mikayla Variety Giving Tuesday

We gave Mikayla a brand new bike and now she can be free to ride with her friends and build her core strength so that she can hold herself up and walk. It's a game-changer and it was due to the kindness of people like you.

Help us help more kids like Mikayla! Help me reach my $1,000 goal for #GivingTuesday!

You can also start your very own fundraiser by clicking here. We'd love your support!
