Let me start by saying I'm sorry to all of you who can't enjoy the delicious bread-iness of gluten. I know how hard it is for many of you to find good places to eat out, so I thought it might be helpful to compile a list of the best gluten-free restaurants in New York City!

One of the best parts about living in New York is that you can find one hundred of the thing you're looking for. One of the worst things is trying to work out which of these are actually worth the time, and from what I've been told, that's especially true for gluten-free restaurants in NYC!

These aren't by any means gluten-free-only restaurants, just places that have some great options for those who need or want them!

So here are my:

9 Best gluten-free restaurants

(straight from my very gluten-intolerant and coeliac friends – in no particular order):

West Village – Italian

“Naples-influenced fare & wines are served in a stylish, white-tiled room with light-wood furniture.”
There's a whole menu for gluten-free food at this reasonably priced Italian delicious-ness.

The Dutch

Soho – American

“Regional American fare (including oysters and much-hyped fried chicken) in a lively, modern space.”
This appears on our list as a personal referral from one of our readers, so let us know what you think too!

Greenwich Village – Italian

“Modern Italian cuisine from Chef/Owner Roberto Deiaco in the heart of Greenwich Village, at the iconic ex-Da Silvano location”
Somewhere cool to take your friends and try something that has a very homely feel.

La Pecora Bianca

NoMad – Italian

“Stylish, bright locale featuring market-driven Italian cuisine, regional wines & apéritifs on tap.”
Something a bit cool and very reasonably priced with lots of gluten-free options.

The Capital Grille

Midtown & FiDi – American

“Outpost of the upscale steakhouse chain offers classic American fare & a clubby, refined setting.”
A bit fancy, a bit delicious, and with a wide range of options.

David Burke Tavern 62

Upper East Side – American

“American dishes by David Burke in a handsome space with a solarium & red leather booths.”
I mean the description says it all, but you're going to enjoy this place with gluten-free friends.

Quality Meats

Midtown – Steakhouse

“Steakhouse in a hip, industrial space known for its premium chops & housemade ice cream.”
This is if you're looking for something slightly fancier, but is well worth the trip!

Olio e piu

Greenwich – Italian

“Naples meets NYC at this trattoria with thin-crust pizza, Italian wines & ample sidewalk seating.”
Just freaking delicious. Who doesn't like pizza and wine (especially if it's good AND gluten-free)!?

West Village – Italian

“Italian classics are crafted from organic ingredients in a sunwashed stucco space with a garden.”
If you're looking for a delicious gluten-free pasta, look no further.
