Did you know that you can watch Game of Thrones Season 8 as soon as it is released even if you don't have cable? It's true, and for episode 1, it's actually FREE!

The secret is that HBO offers a pay-by-the-month streaming subscription option, and it's called HBO NOW!

If you activate your 7-day free trial on Sunday prior to the first episode of Season 8, then you can let it run for another month for just $15. You can then cancel after the sixth and final episode airing May 19!

That's all the episodes of Game of Thrones, instantly, in full HD, completely legal and on your TV or laptop, for $15.

To sign up for HBO NOW and watch Game of Thrones Season 8, head to HBO NOW and fill in your details (on Sunday, remember).

As someone who hasn't actually watched all that much Game of Thrones, I know I need some help to catch up, so if you do too…

Catch up on Game of Thrones

For those who know everything there is to know about Game of Thrones, then Refinery 29 have a little character-by-character reminder for you.

If you want to spend a little longer (30 mins) then FILM CRAM! has a recap of the whole season over on YouTube.

For a shorter version (this is what I did, and it was awesome) here's 52 minutes to CRAM the whole show.

For the super fans (and those who want to watch some episodes and get a feel for season 8), Polygon has a recommendation on the 5 episodes that you should be watching before the season opener on Sunday.

For those of you who haven't been following along with the series to date, then here are a few resources for you to catch up:

If you want to put in a bit of time really getting your head around the story, then the above FILM CRAM! resource is going to be handy starting from Season 1 and working your way through each season.

If you prefer to actually watch some episodes, then the above Polygon resource has an episode from every season which is particularly “lore heavy” to really get you on top of things!

This is another awesome tip from the awesome Edward.

He is part of Crosstown Vocal, an AWESOME contemporary a cappella group:

consisting of young professionals who live and work in and around New York City.

Their next event is their Crosstown Vocal Spring Showcase and I would urge you all to go. They are REALLY REALLY good and it's a fun night out.
